- Where you type your messages or questions.
- Press Enter to send.
- You can also paste images directly if your plan allows image input.
2. Chat History Sidebar (usually on the left)
- Lists all your previous conversations.
- Click any chat to revisit it.
- New Chat button starts a fresh conversation.
- Search bar lets you quickly find past chats (on supported plans).
3. Model Selector (Top center or left panel)
- Choose which version of ChatGPT you want to use.
- Example: GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-4o, or GPT-3.5.
- Some models support images, files, browsing, or custom tools.
- Higher models = faster, smarter, more expensive (for paid users).
4. System Message (in some versions)
- Tells you what tools are available (like “you can upload files” or “you can browse the web”).
- Shows current settings or capabilities for the chat.
5. Toolbar Under the Input Box
Depending on your access level, you might see options like:
- Upload Files 📄 → Attach PDFs, spreadsheets, images.
- Microphone 🎤 → Speak instead of typing (voice input).
- Code Interpreter (Advanced Data Analysis) → Upload datasets, get charts, run calculations.
6. Response Controls
When ChatGPT gives an answer, you can:
- 👍 Like or 👎 Dislike the reply (helps improve the model).
- Regenerate Response 🔄 if you want a different answer.
- Copy 📋 to quickly grab the reply.
- Share 🔗 to send the chat to someone else (available in some plans).
- Continue Generating ➡️ if the message is too long and cuts off.
7. Settings Menu (Bottom left corner gear ⚙️)
- Customize the behavior of ChatGPT (e.g., tone, language).
- Manage your data and privacy settings.
- Adjust notifications, chat memory, and theme (light/dark mode).
8. Profile and Account
- View your subscription type (Free or Plus/Team/Enterprise).
- Manage billing, account details, and logout.
9. Canvas Mode (for code & documents — newer feature!)
- Opens a side-by-side editor when you’re writing code or documents.
- Allows live editing with ChatGPT assisting in real-time.
- Available mostly in Pro and Team plans.
