ChatGPT is a computer program that can have conversations with you. You can type questions or talk to it, and it will reply in a way that sounds like a human. It’s like chatting with a very knowledgeable friend who is available anytime.

What is an LLM (Large Language Model)?
LLM stands for Large Language Model. It’s basically a super smart computer brain that has read a lot of books, articles, websites, and more — so it knows how to understand words and sentences, and can reply in a way that makes sense. Think of it like a sponge that has soaked up a ton of information and now can squeeze it out when you ask.

When was ChatGPT made available to the public?
ChatGPT was first made available to the public in November 2022.

Different versions of ChatGPT released since then:

  • ChatGPT (Nov 2022): The original version, based on a model called GPT-3.5.
  • ChatGPT Plus (Feb 2023): Introduced a paid plan for faster responses and access to a smarter version.
  • GPT-4 (Mar 2023): A newer, much smarter version was released. People who paid for ChatGPT Plus got access to GPT-4.
  • GPT-4 Turbo (Nov 2023): An even faster and cheaper version of GPT-4, available inside ChatGPT.
  • April 2024 onwards: New features like memory (it can remember things you like!) started rolling out.

Free vs Paid Versions of ChatGPT:

Paid version ($20/month as of 2024): You get GPT-4 Turbo, which is smarter, faster, can handle more complicated questions, and has extra features like memory, using pictures, and using special tools.

Free version: You get access to GPT-3.5. It’s still good, but not as smart or detailed as the newest models.

Where does ChatGPT get its information or data?

ChatGPT was trained by reading a massive amount of information from books, articles, websites, and public data available on the internet before 2023.

It doesn’t pull live information from the internet when you ask a question (unless it’s a version connected to a live web browsing tool).
Instead, it gives answers based on what it learned during training — like a student answering questions after studying a lot of textbooks.

Why learn how to use ChatGPT?

Knowing how ChatGPT works helps people use it better, avoid misinformation, work more efficiently, and stay competitive in a world where AI is becoming a big part of everyday life.

Some examples of how you can use ChatGPT include:

Work:

A small business owner can use ChatGPT to draft marketing emails, saving hours each week instead of writing from scratch.

Learning:

A student asks ChatGPT to explain tough subjects (like math or science) in simpler words, helping them understand faster.

Job Search:

Someone looking for a new job gets help from ChatGPT to polish their resume and prepare for interview questions.

Healthcare:

Patients can use ChatGPT to better understand medical terms from their doctor’s notes.

However, patients should not rely on this information for diagnosis or treatment and must always consult a qualified medical professional for proper advice.

Entrepreneurship:

New entrepreneurs brainstorm product ideas and business strategies with ChatGPT, speeding up decision-making.
